1. Removing the Resume from the Featured Media Section

The resumes displayed in the Featured Media section are in the form of PDF files. They allow the visitors to your profiles to see your resumes. This may cause recruiters or employers to approach you directly on LinkedIn. However, you may need to delete older resumes from this section and add new ones.

Here are some easy steps that you can follow to remove the older resumes from this section.

Step 1:�Log in to your LinkedIn account through the website or app.�

Step 2: Click on the ‘Me’ button at the right corner of the window. A drop-down menu will appear on the screen. Click on the ‘View My Profile’ round button to visit the profile.

Step 3: Scroll down to the Featured Media section. A pencil icon will be displayed on the right side of the section. Click the pencil icon to edit the section.

Step 4: The edit window will display all the media files you have added to the Featured Media section. The resume file will be displayed at the bottom of the edit window under the ‘Media’ section. Click on the resume file.

Step 5: A ‘Delete This Media’ option will appear at the bottom of the resume file selected. Click ‘Delete This Media’ to remove the resume from the Featured section.

LinkedIn saves the resumes that you have previously used while applying for jobs. The platform saves up to four resumes that you have used. However, sometimes you may need to tailor your resume according to the job openings.

To do this, you must delete the older resumes automatically saved by following simple steps.

Step 1: Log in to your LinkedIn account.

Step 2: Click on the ‘Me’ button at the right corner of the window. A drop-down window will appear on the screen. Click on the ‘Settings and Privacy’ option.

Step 3: On the left, tabs like Account Preferences, Sign In and Security, Visibility, and Data Privacy will be displayed. Click on the ‘Data Privacy’ tab.

Step 4: The Data Privacy tab includes options regarding the data you have uploaded to LinkedIn, your activity history, your job preferences, your search history, your messaging preferences, etc. Scroll down to locate a section called ‘Job Seeking Preferences.’

Step 5: Click on the ‘Job Application Settings’ option. Two options will be displayed on the screen. A toggle will appear on the right side of each option. The two options are-

  1. Save uploaded resumes and answers to application centres
  2. Share your resume data with all recruiters.

Step 6: Turn the toggle next to the first option to ‘Off.’ The toggle will turn grey. 

Step 7:  You will see the previously uploaded resumes below the second option. Click the ellipsis (three-dot) button next to the file and click the ‘Delete’ option from the drop-down menu.

Later, you can upload another resume file to the same section. The new resume will be saved for your ‘Easy Apply’ applications.
